MMH Product Pitch Competition

Hotel Ezra Cornell is traditionally a three-day, student-run business conference for hospitality industry leaders and members of the Cornell community from across the globe. Featuring some of the most talented individuals in the business, the conference will discuss the latest developments in hospitality and include leisure events for attendees to network with other professionals and meet the students who will be leading the industry in the future.

The theme this year for HEC 96 is Together: Inspiring Collaboration to Build and Progress. At its core hospitality is about the spirit of people and service to others. As the industry redefines itself, collaboration provides paths to innovation and opportunity.

For HEC 96, we are excited to offer a unique opportunity for the MMH class to be highlighted in our online retail product section. While in a traditional year the MMH Class would have an entire F&B event to themselves the weekend of HEC, this year we want to showcase the student efforts to feature an innovative product and highlight our master's students. In teams of up to three people, students from the MMH program can create a product concept to pitch to the HEC 96 Food & Beverage Team Directors and Assistant Directors. The final selected product will be sold on the HEC website to be purchased by our typical guests of HEC: industry leaders, alumni, and faculty of the Hotel School.

Feel free to pitch any product you want! The more creative the product is, the better! Please note the following when brainstorming ideas:
• It must not be a food item
• It must be shippable (i.e. small, lightweight, so on)
• It must not be one of the products we have already created: an apron, a silicone spatula, a bench scraper, a cookie cutter, a coffee mug, and a cocktail shaker set.

Please make sure to limit your submission to no more than two pages of written work. Applications should be submitted via email to HEC@cornell.edu by Monday, December 7th at 11:59 PM.

We will be reviewing your applications and selecting finalists for interviews to be held Monday, December 7th through Saturday, January 12th. While this first round is more of an executive summary, the second round will include a formal discussion with members of the Food & Beverage teams of HEC and will give you the opportunity to further showcase your product. The final product will be chosen and announced on Monday, December 14th. The product will go live on the HEC website at the beginning of February.

Thank you for your application, and we look forward to reviewing your product proposals! If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Adele Shaw (ams837@cornell.edu), the HEC 96 Food and Beverage Director.
